The Association of Rabbis & Cantors

2018 ARC Retreat

What’s the idea behind the retreat? An opportunity for AJR ordained alumni and their partners to come together to meet across the generations of AJR grads, share experiences in the field, to have down time with colleagues and friends, rejuvenate, and learn new things that will aid us in our work.
Who is invited to this retreat?
We encourage partners of AJR alumni to attend. As our partners support us in the work we do, we want to take this time to support them in return.

What will programming look like?
A program outline is coming soon. It will be varied with enough free time to take in the beautiful surroundings.

Tell me more about Camp Zeke:
Camp Zeke on the former location of the legendary Block and Hexter Vacation Center. It is now both a pluralistic Jewish summer camp for children and a retreat center. (Please note that we will be in private rooms.)

What are accommodations like?
The rooms are equivalent to those you would find at a nice motel. Participants will be staying in climate-controlled rooms with private bathrooms. Each room is furnished with two full beds. There is a $50 dollar surcharge for single rooms.

Food, glorious food… What will we be eating?
Camp Zeke is a kosher, nut-free facility. It prides itself on nutritional eating. Food restrictions? We got you covered – please be sure to indicate food restrictions and allergies on the registration form. We are working on having a healthy delicious menu.

What facilities will be available to us?
The entire camp is available to us whether we want to hike, dance, do yoga, workout or simply enjoy the view of the beautiful surroundings.

What if I can’t be there the full time Sunday – Wednesday?
We hope you can be there for as much of the retreat as possible! We will be kicking off on Sunday afternoon at 4 pm with registration. The majority of the program will be held on Monday and Tuesday. We conclude after breakfast on Wednesday morning. Regardless, there is one set fee for attending.

How do we get there?
Participants are responsible for their own transportation although ARC will try and assist in making transportation shiddachs. See map on the left.

What if I am not a current member of ARC? Can I still come? And what if I don’t remember if I am a current member of ARC or not?
If you are not a current member, there is a $75 surcharge, which you can apply toward your annual ARC membership for the coming year.

Can’t remember what your membership status is? No problem! Contact Rabbi Sharon Ballan and she’ll get you all straightened out.

What is the fee for the retreat?
The cost of the retreat is $300 per person, based on double occupancy. There is a $50 surcharge for single rooms. The retreat fee covers the entire program, lodging, meals, facilities, and materials.

What are the deadlines for registration and payment?
The deadline for registration and payment is Tuesday, May 22, 2018 (the day after Shavuot).  If you need to cancel, please contact Linda Shriner-Cahn.

What are the policies regarding cancellations and refunds?
Cancellations made by Friday, May 18, 2018 will receive a 75% refund.
